Kwanzaa Day 7 – January 1 – Imani (Faith)

Meaning:
Imani, the seventh principle of Kwanzaa, means faith in Swahili. This principle encourages individuals to believe in themselves, their communities, and their ability to overcome challenges. It emphasizes faith in the values, traditions, and cultures that bind families and communities together. Specifically, Imani calls for belief in the struggle for justice, the righteousness of African people everywhere, and the promise of a brighter future.

Celebration:
On the final day of Kwanzaa, families and communities reflect on the faith that sustains them and reaffirms their commitment to live with purpose, unity, and shared values. Celebrations often include:

  1. Lighting the Last Green Candle: The final green candle on the Kinara is lit, representing Imani (faith) and the future.
  2. Reflection and Sharing: Families share stories and experiences that demonstrate the power of faith and belief. They also reflect on the challenges they’ve faced and their hopes for the future.
  3. Art and Cultural Expressions: Songs, poetry, and prayers that celebrate resilience, hope, and spiritual strength are shared.
  4. Feast and Togetherness: As it coincides with New Year’s Day, many celebrate with a communal meal that symbolizes abundance and gratitude.
  5. Commitment to the Future: Discussions often focus on how to instill faith in the younger generation, strengthening cultural identity and hope.

Key Message:
Imani reminds participants that faith is essential to overcome adversity, maintain cultural pride, and build a legacy for future generations. It calls for an unwavering belief in one’s community and its collective potential to thrive and prosper.

Remember that in the new year will have new challenges, for which we are ready.

We will identify new and multiple sources of income in 2025 and beyond?

Best bet will be passive income, preferable in hard currency.

We Dare to create the future and do well by doing right

We All Must ‘Set Up Our Own Shop’ and Take Charge of Our Lives for 2025

I use the week of KWANZAA, the week when the edges of the years meet, to Vision the experiences and achievements that I wish to draw into my life during the course of the year to came.

For many of us 2024 was a struggle,

LET 2025 BE THE YEAR THAT THE STRUGGLE DISCONTINUES.
